Asks if science is the exclusive method of substantiating a particular truth and if other formulas could be incorporated to at least determine a present level of probability. Scientism The scientific method is undoubtedly the best tool we have for understanding the nature of the universe. But is it the only method, and should it be the sole criterion for distinguishing fact from fiction? Is it really the only worthy approach to uncovering a truth? While scientific study is a timeless pursuit designed to transcend our current understanding of reality, the field of science itself has only existed for about 200 years—a mere blip on the cosmic scale. Has science amassed enough evidence to confidently assess how the universe truly operates or the limits of technology? Furthermore, has humanity evolved enough to genuinely understand the true nature of reality? Are the technological tools we've developed since that time advanced enough to provide adequate answers about the universe's structure or what is and isn't possible within that framework? Could scientists benefit from integrating additional truth-seeking methods to supplement its current findings with other ways of assessing the probability of mysteries science may not unravel in our lifetime, if ever? Or should we remain patient and let science progress naturally, accepting our perpetual ignorance? Perhaps we could introduce a level of probability based on available evidence without claiming scientific truth or fact, allowing us to explore or contemplate such mysteries while suspending ultimate judgment. The next section, S.P.E.C.I.A.L., offers a first step to such an approach. Opinions & Beliefs The podcast and subsequent publication will address common mistakes made by members of the UFO community when investigating or discussing the topic. The most significant involves the use of phrases like "I believe..." or "I think..." when referring to specific cases or the phenomenon as a whole. Members of the UFO community, skeptics, and scientists interested in the topic should avoid personal convictions at all cost. Opinions or beliefs have no place in this endeavor, as what individuals "think" about any particular case or the topic in general is irrelevant. Instead, it seems more appropriate to use verbiage such as "the evidence points to..." or "the available evidence suggests..." when publicly solicited, rather than tainting the subject matter with personal beliefs or, worse, absolute claims. None of us are exempt from this tendency, myself included, but we have to work hard to avoid it going forward. While there is nothing wrong with inherently harboring a personal belief or opinion, those associated with the community who might share that with the general public could be seen as inadvertently adding to the discord. Another mistake made by those in the community is jumping to conclusions instead of suspending judgement and allowing the evidence, testimony, or account to unfold naturally. There seems to be a significant level of impatience in wanting immediate answers, even when those answers aren't entirely discernible due to incomplete information or a lack of substantial evidence. Criticizing eyewitnesses or others in the field, including skeptics with an interest in the topic, is unnecessary and counterproductive. It is better to take the high road, engage in constructive and polite discourse, and agree to disagree with someone else's interpretation of the evidence. Infighting has never been very productive for the UFO community and typically leads to unnecessary strife and further criticism from the skeptical and scientific communities. Avoid claiming absolute certainty. Not only does this prevent potential embarrassment if a case is ultimately proven true, mundane, or a hoax, but we also do not know enough about the phenomenon to discount anyone's claims, regardless of our personal views. Claiming certainty about the ultimate origin of any potential NHI is a similar trap. Avoiding absolutes allows for various interpretations of an anomaly we are likely not evolved enough to fully grasp or understand in the first place. If a non-human intelligence is indeed present and the ultimate proof ever presented to us in a comprehensible manner, those who refrained from claiming absolute certainty regarding origin might be taken more seriously going forward. These and other basic rules of engagement will be discussed on the podcast and explored in more detail in the book.

The preceding acronym is a special method of gathering evidence since it utilizes multiple approaches to seeking a truth. It offers a unique perspective on the UAP topic by blending different forms of evidence-gathering to deduce an overall probability regarding NHI involvement, without claiming scientific certainty. Exploring the unknown may require such a strategy, especially concerning aspects of a phenomenon we may be biologically, evolutionarily, or scientifically incapable of fully understanding. When combined, these methods provide a comprehensive approach to solving the puzzle. This amalgam could provide a broader view of the phenomenon and help determine if we can at least be intellectually confident in the existence of non-human intelligence on Earth. *Disclaimer: While this is reminiscent of the perk attribute chart in the popular Fallout game series, it was the only acronym that could incorporate all applicable methods. S cientific method: Utilizing scientific means, such as physical, testable, and repeatable evidence, to determine truth or falsehood. This type of evidence surpasses an observer's account. While an eyewitness's report is one means of seeking truth, it is not a method of repeatable observation. This is the highest standard for discerning truth, but not the exclusive approach. P hilosophical inquiry: Questioning everything we think we know about a topic and considering reasons for and against its truth or falsity. Some argue that this is one of the few methods currently available for speculating about the truth of the UFO phenomenon, as no concrete evidence has yet emerged. E videntiary standard: Similar to a legal inquiry to determine guilt or innocence. For UAP phenomena accused as being of non-human-intelligence origin, would the available evidence hold up in court to establish guilt? Circumstantial, anecdotal, physical, and other forms of evidence are considered to make such a determination. C hronicled account: Historical evidence in the form of oral accounts, written records, photographs, videos, or official documents. I nvalidation: A process of elimination. To fairly deduce, opposing methods must be used. One approach should eliminate clutter supporting the claim, while the other should do the same against it. "When you have eliminated all which is impossible, then whatever remains, however improbable, must be the truth."--Arthur Conan Doyle A necdotal evidence: Eyewitness testimony and the witness's personal interpretation of the experience. It should be noted that not all UFO cases rely solely on anecdotal evidence, as some skeptics might claim. L ogical reasoning & deduction: While interpretation of available evidence may sometimes be ambiguous, logical reasoning, deductive logic, and basic common sense can be used to assign a level of probability that does not necessarily claim absolute truth.

Outlines how to apply specific point values using a basic grading system based on the attributes of a UFO event in order to deduce a certain level of probability. Following that is incorporating a Bayesian inference model to deduce a more specific level of likelihood. Probability Under development is a chart that categorizes five levels of probability based on various aspects of evidence in a given case: highly probable, probable, possible, improbable, and highly improbable. This worksheet will assign equal numbers of negative and positive point values based on factors such as the number and credibility of eyewitnesses, proximity to the sighting, characteristics of the phenomenon, accompanying video and radar data, potential for hoax or deception, presence of physical evidence, documentation, possible natural explanations, and more. Each anomalous aspect of an object's attributes and maneuvers is included within the grading system. Once this is finalized, a Bayesian inference model will be incorporated to see where these points of evidence stack up to the simplified method of probability by providing specific percentage values. In the upcoming book, roughly 80 of the most notable cases throughout history will be graded using this probability worksheet. This includes cases that either defy scientific explanation or have been debunked as natural phenomena or hoaxes. This approach establishes a balanced perspective. Direct feedback will be solicited in the member forum to potentially incorporate any additional suggestions into the worksheet prior to the book's publication. Once all cases deemed as hoaxes, mundane phenomena, or natural occurrences are eliminated as improbable or highly improbable, an additional worksheet will be developed for cases that fall under probable or highly probable. This worksheet will deduce the likelihood of origin for each common characteristic associated with those cases. A point value of 1 through 4 will be assigned to each possibility based on a logical deduction of likelihood for each potential origin source, using a process of elimination. The four main possibilities considered are: the extraterrestrial hypothesis (ETH ), or aliens from another planet; the extratempestrial model (ETM ), or humans from the future; the ultraterrestrial hypothesis (UTH ), or an ancient lost civilization from Earth; and the interdimensional hypothesis (IDH ), or beings from another dimension or reality. While there are more specific interpretations, such as demons and angels or transuniversal (simulation) architects, these would fall under the broader IDH possibility. Similarly, interpretations of avatars, AI, or synthetic biological beings all fall under the ETH since the ultimate source of origin would be aliens from another planet who created or manufactured them. A similar grading worksheet for video evidence will also be featured, with point values based on factors such as accompanying documented evidence, video testimonials based on eyewitness observations allowing for independent visual analysis of body language, multiple eyewitnesses with accompanying testimonials, real-time reactions of witnesses during recording, the authenticity of the recording, the age of the video, whether there was any professional video analysis to determine CGI or other mundane explanations, and if it was recorded during a live broadcast, among others. Yet another chart will compare current mainstream scientific hypotheses that are seriously considered by many in the scientific community and how those points of evidence stack up against existing evidence in support of an NHI presence. Comparing available evidence of NHI to evidence for established hypotheses may reveal a sense of hypocrisy, as equations can only take us so far in understanding what we observe and its relation to the true nature of reality. While visual observations can be highly subjective, there are many examples of witnessed events that are undoubtedly objective. This approach can help us discern truths about what we see and experience that are at least useful for human understanding.
